The IIESL will explore innovative approaches to training and retraining workers to equip them with the skills necessary for the jobs of tomorrow. Simultaneously, it will seek to understand the dynamics that perpetuate exclusion for specific population groups in the job market, particularly along socioeconomic, racial, gender, and other disparities. By focusing on the nexus of workforce development, labor and the future of work, the institute seeks to achieve an agenda aimed at establishing sustainable and prosperous livelihoods for all.

I (we) wish to acknowledge this land on which the University of Toronto operates. For thousands of years it has been the traditional land of the Huron-Wendat, the Seneca, and the Mississaugas of the Credit. Today, this meeting place is still the home to many Indigenous people from across Turtle Island and we are grateful to have the opportunity to work on this land.
